Company Profile
The World Beneath The Sea
Japan Underwater Films. Since our establishment in 1978 in Tokyo, we have been searching the underwater world with endless curiosity. From the spring waters of Mt. Fuji to the dark depths of deep-sea trenches; from tiny marine life less than half an inch long to the largest whales, over 50 feet long.
The more we see this marine life through our viewfinder, the more deeply we become committed to exploring its wonder. Japan Underwater Films wishes to share the excitement of this hidden world with the public, translating the living surprises of the ocean into clear and beautiful photographic images.
Company: Japan Underwater Films was established in Tokyo in 1978 by Koji Nakamura, an underwater photographer.
Career history: Since 1978, Japan Underwater Films has been an active group of underwater cameramen specialising in both still photography and film. We offer high-quality standard and high-definition images.
We have captured a wide variety of aquatic animals on film for over 100 TV documentaries. We also film underwater for human documentaries, motion pictures, and commercial films.
We have filmed dynamic underwater nature around the world, including in Canada, the USA, Spain, France, Italy, Norway, Egypt, Israel, Madagascar, Tahiti, Peru, Micronesia and Malaysia.
Our cameras explore the unknown underwater world, capturing the natural history and ecology of myriad marine creatures, including the impressive spawning behaviour of fish and corals, the feeding behaviour of whales and manta rays, and the many other fascinating stories told in the world’s oceans.
